Tattoo Service Guide
Transform an old or unwanted tattoo into a bold new piece — expert cover-up tattooing at Tattoo Things Studio
What Is a Cover-Up Tattoo?
A cover-up tattoo transforms an existing, unwanted tattoo into a completely new piece of art.
Cover-up tattooing requires a highly skilled artist who understands how to design around existing ink using colour theory, strategic placement, and compositional creativity.
Older and more faded tattoos are significantly easier to cover. If your original tattoo is heavily saturated or dark, a course of laser removal sessions will dramatically expand your design options and produce a better final result.
The Process
A successful cover-up requires careful planning before a single needle touches skin. Here is how we approach every cover-up project at our Johor Bahru studio.
Assessment & Consultation
We evaluate the existing tattoo — its size, ink saturation, darkness, and age — and set honest expectations. All consultations are free.
Custom Cover-Up Design
We create a design that works with the existing ink rather than fighting it. Shape, tone, and composition are engineered to conceal the original tattoo effectively.
Strategic Ink Application
Darker tones, bold lines, and strategic saturation are layered over the old tattoo. Complex or heavily saturated originals may require multiple sessions.
Touch-Up & Review
After healing, a review session ensures the cover-up has settled correctly. Touch-ups are included where needed to achieve a complete, clean result.
